Here are two remarkable new novels which take known themes and transport the reader intimately and powerfully into new territory. Alison Pick’s Far to Go strongly combines the shrewd hindsight of a contemporary academic with the narrative of the Czech Bauer family in 1938. Rosa, the young traveller in The English German Girl by Jake Wallis Simons, is 15, and upon leaving Berlin is faced with the tremendous burden of securing papers to help the rest of her family escape.
The event will be chaired by Claire Armistead, Literary Editor of the Guardian. In association with Youth Aliyah Child Rescue
