JWS seeks feature writing staffer position
Ok, so here’s the rub. I’m keen to get a features writing job. I’ve been writing features on a freelance basis over the past year, consistently publishing three or four features a month for all the major broadsheets (mainly the Times but also the Guardian, Telegraph, Independent on Sunday and others). You can see my portfolio here. I’ve also finished my second novel, The English German Girl, which is coming out in April. So now I’d like to become a staffer.
The response to my journalism has been hugely positive. Fuelled by my intrepid nature, I’ve written on a broad range of subjects, from arts and books to science, families, and food. I’ve written numerous in-depth interviews, including a 2500-word interview with Oliver James for the Indy on Sunday. I’ve reported from Israel and Palestine, writing a piece on graffiti there La Repubblica magazine. I’ve got blind drunk in order to try out hangover cures for the Times, and have written a novel in three days (also for the Times). I’ve appeared on Radio 4′s From Our Own Correspondent, filing a despatch from Jerusalem last spring. And to top it all off, I’ve been known to produce the occasional cartoon, which has also appeared in the Times.
Verve, intrepidity, colour, wit, fighting spirit; it’s all there. All that’s missing is a consistent platform, which I hope to achieve by becoming a staff writer.
CV below. Get in touch.
Thanks
Jake
